Hello Crittenden Families,

The smell of pumpkin spiced lattes, the leaves changing colors and crispy mornings are all signs of sweater weather! Yesterday marked the first day of fall! To celebrate the season change our panthers will be decorating their home room class room doors! It's a great way to embrace change and interact with one another as they all are competing to have the best Fall Door.

As you know from last week’s panther blog we are focusing on character traits each month. We are instilling in students the value of respect. Our hope is to continue building core values as they begin to develop their social and emotional skill sets.

Our students have been excelling in ways that show respect in and out of the classroom. We are very proud of our panthers!

As September approaches the end of its days please keep having conversations about respect in your home and what that looks like for your panther. Our panthers are able to earn raffle tickets when an act of respect is recognized by our staff , so please continue to encourage the meaning of respect  at home.

 Crittenden News:

Student Drop-Off
The safety and well being of our students is very important to us. Recently there has been a high volume of students on campus earlier than usual. Please be aware that we are limited to adult supervision prior to 8:00am. We ask to please refrain from dropping off students prior to 8:00am, if at all possible.

Student Drop-off & Pick-up
We have two student pick up and drops on Rock St. and Old Middlefield. To ease the flow of the morning school traffic please be courteous to the cars behind you and push forward in order for other parents to have room to drop off and or pick up their student. In order to ensure your student makes it to class on time drop off should occur no later than 8:15 AM-8:20 AM.

Securly: Keeping students safe on the Internet
As parents and guardians we always want to do the best to keep our children safe. Recently our MVWSD sent out information regarding access to view what online activities choices your student is making via Securly (www.securly.com/).

Please note: Securly is for school-issued devices only. Check your email for these weekly reports, and you may also download the Securly app. For more information, please see https://www.mvwsd.org/technology.

SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) Tips
A message from our school counselor, Ms.Hinojosa -
Flyer: 6 SEL Tips

As we support our students with the transition back to in person learning, we must take into account the impact that the pandemic has had on their social and emotional well-being. Here at Crittenden, social-emotional learning (SEL) is at the forefront of your child’s education. Social- emotional learning can foster a safe, supportive and equitable environment that grounds students. In an effort to support SEL at home, please find tips that parents and families can incorporate to facilitate a supportive transition back to school.

Club Fair, October 1st
Our teachers and students are excited for the upcoming club fair that will feature information on our 2021-2022 clubs; Glee Club, Pride Club,  Latinx Club (LSU), Anime and art club,  Yearbook Club, Science and Crafts Club. This is a great opportunity for students to make connections and new friendships.

 Fall Throwback Movie Night

Flyer: Fall Throwback Movies

Fallback in love with movies you grew up with! The City of Mountain View is hosting a FREE Movie Night at Rengstorff Park October 1st and October 2nd beginning at 7pm. Please be sure to read the flyer for additional information.

 A Message from the PTA
We have had a good start to this year's membership drive with over 200 PTA memberships so far, but that leaves quite a few of you who haven't joined ... yet! Please take a moment to join the Crittenden PTA for this year at our PTA website. You can also make a donation for the programs we'll be offering this year - student clubs, enrichment activities, and more. And don't forget to seek corporate matching donations if your company has a matching program. This is an easy way to increase the impact of your donation for all of our students.

Finally, our PTA treasurer has had to resign from the role due to unexpected circumstances so we are urgently seeking a new treasurer for this school year. The treasurer is one of three essential roles for a PTA so it is important for us to find someone quickly. This is typically a role for one person, but we would be open to having two people share the role. If you are open or would like to learn more, please contact Jenny Schroder, the PTA president ([email protected]).

 Thanks very much!
