August 27, 2020

Hello Panthers,

It was so nice to see everyone who joined our virtual Back to School night. I am so excited to meet new students and families as they get familiar with our wonderful school. And, likewise, it is heartening to see so many familiar faces returning. I have missed all of you!

I appreciate everyone’s patience and positive attitude as we navigate these new processes. I understand it is a struggle, but please remind your students that if they keep at it and address the problems as they come, it will get better. Please remember we have lots of resources and information to help with the Distance Learning process on our website here. You can find information on our Bell Schedule, Google Classroom, and how to find Zoom links. If you continue to have questions or problems please contact us. We are here to help.

Speaking of Distance Learning, don’t forget that students still need to check-in and out via Zoom every Wednesday for their first period and 5th period, even though it is a day of Independent study. Check-in is from 8:00am to 8:15am (it is 15 minutes because sometimes the teacher has important information to give them), and check out is from 2:50 to 2:55. We ask that you remind your student to attend all classes on time. If you receive a phone call from our office informing you that your child has been marked absent, please call the front office at (650) 903-6945 to clear their absence.

Last week, students took the Math i-Ready diagnostic, and this week, they are taking the Reading i-Ready diagnostic. Yesterday, we contacted families by email if their child qualified to move up a math level. Within the next week, you will be receiving directions about how to access your child’s Reading and Math scores. If you have any questions about your child’s score please contact Ms.Walsh at [email protected].

Our Food Service department would like your feedback: Full-price, free and reduced-price meals (grab and go during MVWSD Distance Learning) are now available at school sites for students from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm In order to help our Food and Nutrition Services Dept. maximize the convenience of this service, please answer this short survey. Thank you in advance!

Thank you all for your hard work and partnership.

Crittenden Panthers learning together, wherever we are.

DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome from the Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF)!

MVEF is a community supported non-profit that raises funds to provide a competitive, well-rounded education for every child in the district.  We rely on tax-deductible donations from parents like you to support our students.

In 2020, MVEF-funded programs will continue but look a little different in our connected learning environment.  MVEF will fund: Weekly art and music classes from CSMA delivered online, science through Living Classroom virtual lessons, middle school science supplies, environmental education online lessons, and TechSmart Coding classes.  Specifically, to support connected learning, MVEF will also fund art supplies, instrument repair, elective kits, online learning resources, professional development for teachers in online teaching, and Student Wellness.

We need your help to meet our goal to raise $800,000. Please check for the MVEF brochure with your student supply bag or mvef.org for more information.  To join our team of volunteers, email [email protected].  Donate today at  https://www.mvef.org/donate
