Hello Crittenden Families,

We hope that this upcoming break will provide some rest and relaxation for our students as we approach the end of the school year.

This week we opened our MUR and kitchen for break and lunch. Our students have been excited to have various food options for lunch. We look forward to continuing a little bit more normalcy in their lives.

6th & 7th grade students have been able to select their electives for next school year! The last day to select electives will be tomorrow Friday, April 8th. If the deadline is missed students will be auto placed where openings are available.

MVWSD has layers of measures in place to combat COVID transmission, including on-campus COVID testing, sanitation, and ventilation. Additionally, MVWSD is providing at-home COVID-19 testing kits for free to families (Preschool - Grade 8) so that they may test before returning to campus after spring break; these can be expected on April 7th.

Here’s what to do with these tests:

1. Administer the rapid test on Sunday, April 17. Even if your child participates in COVID pooled testing, this home test is an additional safeguard. Directions, in both Spanish and English, for how to use the test are inside the box.

2. Once the test is completed please only send POSITIVE results to [email protected]. If the test is Negative you do not need to send.

Thank you for all your support!  We wish you and your families a safe and restful break!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gomez

Crittenden Middle School Principal

8th Grade Updates

You should have received an email from me last week with a reminder that our 8th grade students will be embarking on the Teen Talk lessons in their Science classes the weeks of 4/18-4/29. Please be sure to read the email.

SEL Lesson for April

The SEL Lesson for the month of April is Conflict Resolution. Our 6th graders started off this month highlighting conflict resolution as an important part of being team players, coinciding with our Character Trait of the month. Ms. Hinojosa will continue with SEL lessons for 7th and 8th grade when we return from break. This month's lesson highlights important conflict resolution skills and allows students to practice using "I statements" and addressing their feelings and emotions to come up with solution-oriented ways to manage conflict in their day to day lives.
