Principal's Message
When I was a kid, I always looked forward to a new school year. Frankly, after several weeks of summer (no matter how interesting), I was ready to see all of my school friends again. It wasn't until I became a teacher that I realized how relieved my parents were to have me back in school again - no more having to worry about finding things for me to do. Indeed, the beginning of the year is always a time with a wide range of emotions: excitement, joy, anxiety, trepidation, relief...
Parents, we want you to know: we understand, and we strive to provide the best possible experience for your children. We want to inspire and empower them to pursue excellence in their personal and academic lives. This means high quality instruction in all classes that blends direct instruction with inquiry-based techniques such as Project Based Learning. It means challenging students to problem-solve and collaborate on a regular basis. It means getting to know each and every student on a personal level. It means new and updated classrooms with a state-of-the-art audio-visual system and plenty of whiteboard space. It means a 1:1 student-to-laptop ratio. It means providing a safe place to learn, in both the physical and intellectual sense.
Welcome to the 2014-15 school year at Crittenden. Let's make it a great one!
