Hello Crittenden Families,

On behalf of the Crittenden staff we welcome all our new families to Crittenden and welcome our returning families.  Our staff and students look forward to the day we can all return back to the  classroom.  In the meantime, we are committed to providing a robust distance learning experience for our students. I know that the start of this school year is difficult for both parents and students. I am a parent myself, of two young daughters, so I understand the challenges. As frustrating as it can be, we also know we can never waver in our diligence towards keeping our kids and families safe and healthy, which has always been the top priority of our school and our district. From that foundation, we have built a plan to work within these constraints to optimize the learning environment for all students.

Our District has been working hard all summer to put forth plans and policies that will optimize the learning for our students without compromising safety. Your input on our family survey was instrumental in developing these plans, so we thank all who have participated in that. We have been training our teachers on techniques for distance learning with clear protocols and guidelines.

Although current conditions dictate that we begin the school year in stage 4 of our District’s four stage plan, we want you to know that we have been working diligently over the summer to create safety protocols to implement in stage 3 as soon as the conditions allow.

Please note, the first day of school (August 17th)  will be a minimum day. We will have our school supplies and chromebook distribution on Friday, Aug.14th.  All students will receive a bag of school supplies, a complementary agenda, and all incoming 6th graders who did not pick up their chromebook last spring can stop by and pick it up on this date. In addition, all students that turned in their chromebook for the summer will be able to pick up their chromebook on this date. I will send a separate email soon with detailed information about the pick up process.

Be sure to check our website and calendar for our upcoming events, which are also summarized below. Of course, these events have to be conducted virtually, and the platform we are using for our virtual meetings is Zoom. We look forward to seeing our incoming 6th parents information meeting on Wednesday, Aug.12th. All parents, we look forward to seeing you at the Principal's coffee on Coffee on Thursday, Aug. 13th from 3:30-4:30pm and Spanish speaking at 6:30-7:30pm.

Although we have challenges in front of us, I have faith in our families, our staff, and our district that we will persevere through this and look back with pride at the great accomplishments that our students will achieve this year.
